The Wanderer

The Wanderer, written by Sharon Creech is 305 pages long and is a story filled with excitement, laughter, and adventure. The main characters in this story are Brian, Uncle Mo, Uncle Dock, Uncle Stew, and Cody and Sophie, the main protagonists. These people left their homes and set sail on a journey like no other. They went from Kentucky all the way to England to see Grandpa Bompie, on a boat named, The Wanderer. On the boat everyone had to teach everyone else something that they knew. While all of the Uncles are teaching things about steering and maintaining a boat, Brian is teaching points of sail, Cody is teaching juggling, and Sophie is telling stories about Grandpa Bompie. I can make a text to text relation to a book I've read called Charlotte Doyle.
Sharon Creech's wonderfully written book, The Wanderer can be connected to a well-written book by the name of Charlotte Doyle. I can connect to this other book because Sophie is new at sea and isn't sure what the whole new experiance is going to be like. Charlotte, in Charlotte Doyle is new at sea too. Also Sophie is surrounded by men and is the only girl aboard the boat. Charlotte is the only girl on the boat as well. The last similarity I'll make is that both girls have more than one side to themselves. For instance one side is dreamy and romantic, another is logical and down-to-earth, and the last one is hardheaded and impulsive. This book, The Wanderer is a fun read and I definitely recommend it to others.
